Community Development Committee:

The Community Development Committee works on coordinating, organizing, and leading events in collaboration with other groups in the community to assist with local events in the community. By providing services to the community, we establish our members as leaders in the community and allow for networking not just amongst our members, but with local leaders as well.

How often do they meet for meetings: Once every quarter.
Time commitment: Volunteering for at least one event per month. Members are open to suggesting and coordinating events they are interested in for the HJJCC to assist with.
Cherry Blossom Steering Committee:

The Steering Committee coordinates the Cherry Blossom Festival, one of the longest, continually running ethnic festivals in the state. The Festival not only provides an amazing experience for the Queen Contestants, but also provides the opportunity for young professionals to develop and refine professional and personal skills.

Sports Committee:

Description: The purpose of the Sports Committee is to engage and enhance the experience of HJJCC members by organizing events and activities that complement other member events while aligning with the overall goals of HJJCC. The events and activities vary annually, but recurring events include quarterly member golf outings and the annual HJJCC Dodgeball Tournament.

Membership Development:

The Membership Development Committee, is in charge of developing the membership. We meet quarterly to plan events and discuss ways to improve the membership.

Time Commitment: 1-2 Hour Long Committee Meetings once a Quarter. Varies on event days.
Management Development (Nijikai Committee):

The Management Development Committee, also known as the Nijikai Committee, is in charge of planning and executing the HJJCC's annual Nijikai event, the second-largest event of the HJJCC after the Cherry Blossom Festival. Nijikai hosts approximately 500 guests annually who come to enjoy a night of food and beverage tasting, live entertainment, and prizes.
Next Committee Meeting:
Nijikai planning will begin in November for an event date of June 2025
How often do they meet for meetings: Full committee meetings are once a month beginning in November but may increase depending on your specific role.
Time Commitment: Time commitment varies throughout the planning process and the various roles. Typically 1-4 hours per week during the planning phase, possibly more as we approach the event.
International Relations Committee:

The IR committee plans and hosts activities and meals for our three sister cities (San JCs, Kobe, and Odawara) when they come down to Hawaii.

How often do they meet for meetings: 1 to 2 times per month
Time Commitment: Our first hosting is in March for 3 days and the subsequent sister cities hostings occur around April-June. Each sister city stay is about 3 days long.
Young Business Roundtable:

The Young Business Roundtable (YBR) was established to support members in advancing their careers and networks by providing professional development experiences, engaging in business-related topics, and offering networking opportunities.
